all cities are dirty. the part of manchester i live in is dirty. the parts of manchester i walk through everyday are dirty.
i hate to admit it but after a while its easy to stop seeing the dirt, its easy to be that person just throwing your trash on the streets.
yet its also easy to be reminded. sometimes by something as small as seeing someone carelessly and obliviously discard a wrapper from a chocolate bar or sometimes its something as big as spending weeks in a much more beautiful place, with a beautiful person and being receptive to the splendor of nature.
thats partly why i paint on cardboard and things i find in the street. making something out of nothing. turning waste into worth. its also cheap! hehe
dirt, grime, activity, a million different entities going a million different directions with little thought or concern for all the others or for what's around them... counterpointed by a moment of serenity, a inversion of the hectic stresses we call life: a tree doing nothing but growing old.
painted with everything ever on what has served as my desk for the last two semesters.
i like that idea. do you mean overlay it centrally, on top of the tree? or maybe sitting by or next to the tree. i'm thinking of a almost rubenesque female nude.
i was planning on doing something today but the desk got so cluttered with stuff... we have to evacuate everything from the studios by next friday, so before then i will do it as a gift to the next student who comes along.
but... the sad thing is there will be no next student. over the summer they are moving to a new building and i highly doubt tattered old desks are going to be making the move too.
thank you i like the idea very much too. in fact i'd say that for me its a essential requirement to find such moments of peace, they help me retain my equanimity and stop me from going insane!

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

However erm...
I LIKE TREES ANDS STUFF THATS OUTSIDE.

I love work that has a load of splatters and then an ink outline - that's how I usually work. Great pic!
